U.S. Congressman: SEC Chairman's refusal to provide relevant information led Congress to miss investigations into events like Terra and FTX
ChainCatcher News, U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer tweeted that he has received information from multiple sources indicating that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler is collecting information on crypto companies in a manner that is neither targeted, intentional, nor explicit; rather, the SEC's requests are random and unfocused. Gary Gensler has refused to provide requested information to Congress, resulting in missed events such as Terra/Luna, Celsius, Voyager, and FTX.
Tom Emmer stated, "Gensler has repeatedly evaded Congress at the expense of investor interests (having not appeared publicly before the House Financial Services Committee since October 5, 2021), while letting us learn about the SEC's crypto investigations through the media, such as the investigation into FTX. Gary Gensler must testify before Congress and answer questions about the costs of his regulatory failures."
Previously, Tom Emmer indicated that his office received reports claiming that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler helped SBF and FTX gain a regulatory monopoly through legal loopholes. (Source link)
