ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, 67-year-old retired artist Ed Suman lost over $2 million due to a scam involving a fake Coinbase customer service representative, including 17.5 bitcoins and 225 ethers. The scammers impersonated Coinbase security personnel and obtained his recovery phrase through a phishing website, transferring all assets in two transactions.

Shortly after the incident, Coinbase disclosed that its Indian customer service staff had been compromised, leading to a leak of information for 1% of monthly active users. Coinbase stated that it would provide compensation ranging from $180 million to $400 million for affected users.
